The Monroe Morning Optimists Club serves the needs of youth in our community. We enjoy social activities, breakfast, and also host a weekly speaker. Our weekly guests speak on behalf of area companies, organizations, and various groups about what their role in the community is. Some of these organizations inform us on the impact the Optimists have had on their children, schools, and communities.
We believe that our youth represent the future, both of Optimists International and our communities and country as a whole. Support begins at the local level by encouraging education through scholarship programs, fitness through athleticism, and awareness in all of our daily lives.
What reasons do people get involved and stay involved as Optimists?
Personal growth – learning to work with others, new skills such as time management and decision making.
Everyone likes to receive recognition for a job ‘well done’ from an award to a ‘pat on the back’.
Personal sense of accomplishment seeing a project through from start to finish and knowing their a part of it.
Being involved in community life and make new friends.
Being involved to enjoy the social part of working with other ‘positive minded optimists’ and having ‘fun’ doing it.
Different Memberships for Individuals and Communities
As a member of an Optimist Club, individuals have the opportunity to ‘Bring Out the Best in Kids’ and ‘Everyone’ along with other like-minded individuals. Each member can determine how involved they would like to be. Some of our members participate in the weekly club meetings and some members are only interested in helping out with events and fund-raisers. The annual dues is $85 per year.
30 and Under for $30:
Optimist International is offering a one year introductory membership to individuals in the ages of 18-30. As you complete the membership application, indicate that you are 30 or under the age of 30.
Is an honor bestowed by a Club on an Optimist who has shown years of dedication to the club and organization. Optimists can also enroll themselves in Life Membership. A one-time fee is paid and the Optimist pays lower dues for life.
Friend of Optimists:
Individuals can show their support by becoming a Friends of Optimists. This business or person may be someone who may not have time to dedicate to a local Optimist Club. Optimists Clubs can also bestow a Friend of Optimists membership on a community member who has shown great support for the club.
